Janice (Jan) Quelland was born to Leona and Ralph Kettlewell on December 6, 1934 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. She passed away after a short illness on January 20, 2021 surrounded by her family.
She grew up in Sauk Centre and graduated from Hamline University in 1956 with degrees in Health and Physical Education and minors in History and English. While in college she was crowned Snow Queen and Butter Queen!
She married her college sweetheart, Ray Quelland, on October 14, 1956. After moving to California, Georgia, Illinois and Wisconsin with the Navy, they settled in Farmers Branch in 1962. She played golf, tennis and bridge as well as traveled the United States.
After retirement, Jan and Ray traveled internationally. She loved to read and co-founded the First Tuesday Book Club in 2000 as well as being in a dinner club with monthly get togethers with long time friends.
Jan was a long time, very active member of Christ United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir, attended a Sunday School class and was active in many groups.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ray; daughters, Nancy Quelland, Betsy McKinney, Kay Humbert; son-in-law, Daniel Humbert; 4 grandchildren, Megan McKinney, Zachary McKinney, Sadie Humbert, Josiah Humbert and his son, Ziya.
A memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 2807 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

I very much remember the Quellands, they were good friends with my parents when we lived in Lubbock. I am so sorry for your loss, lovely memories of your family.

Jan and I developed a strong friendship as substitute teachers at RLT.
So sorry for your loss Quelland Family. JAn was a dear friend while were “subbing” at RLT. We enjoyed many coffee mornings too. Feb. 5,2021
