Obituary of Boyd, Gloria June

Gloria June Boyd of Euless, TX, beloved sister and aunt, passed on Saturday, January 16, 2021, in Carrollton, TX. Gloria was born in San Antonio in 1947, the daughter of Lt. Col. William Knight Boyd, USAF, and Carolyn June Davis.  She earned the Diplome Superieur in French at La Universite Sorbonne in Paris in 1968 and the Certificado in Spanish at Universidad Menendez Pelayo in Santander, Spain. She graduated from Mills College with a B.A. in French Language & Literature and a minor in Spanish Language & Literature. She earned her M.A. in History and the Certificate in Archival Administration from UT Arlington. She completed classwork requirements towards her Ph.D. in Humanities at UT Dallas. Gloria loved teaching and was an educator for 40 years throughout DFW, including Fort Worth Northside High. the Greenhill School in Dallas, Crandall High and Yavneh Academy.  She taught Honors World History, A.P. English IV, Spanish I, II, III, & IV, French I & II, Humanities, English II & III, and Visual Media.  She developed and taught the Advanced Placement (AP) Programs in Spanish Language, English V, and World History at Fort Worth’s High School for Medical Professions at Northside High School. She loved to travel.  She lived in France, Spain, Canada & the U.K.  She traveled in France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Luxembourg, Ireland, Austria, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia. Gloria loved animals and was a proud and loving  owner of many wonderful feline rescues. She was a sustaining supporter of the Humane Society of United States and the ASPCA. Gloria was a patriot and a participating member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Texas Bluebonnet Chapter. She also was a sustaining supporter of the U.S.O. and the Wounded Warrior Project. She is survived by her sister, Betty Boyd Moore of Euless, TX and her nephew, Charles Boyd Moore of Seattle, WA. Donations can be made in her honor to the Humane Society of United States or the ASPCA. Please leave condolences and share memories on this website.

    Ms Boyd was an amazing teacher, I was in her English class 1990. She brought the books to life for me, she taught me a love of literature that has lasted a life time. Her memory still lives on in me and I share with others her wonderful works. She is not forgotten.
