“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Hernandez, Jimmy
Jimmy was born November 28, 1949 to Inez and Jimmy Hernandez in Dallas, Texas. When Jimmy Gilbert Hernandez passed away May 8, 2021 the world got a lot less fun. As the first-born child, Jimmy was shown a lot of love from his parents, especially his beloved mother, and some would say he was spoiled. Soon after, Jimmy, or ‘Corky’ as he was nicknamed by his family, became big brother to three sisters: Linda, Nancy, and Debra. A class clown and ladies’ man, Jimmy made a lot of friends throughout school and life. He never met a stranger and kept friends for many years. Jimmy loved joking around, kidding his friends and family and just having a good time. Jimmy was an avid sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He was so passionate about football you could hear him yelling at the TV from outside. As a young man, Jimmy also enjoyed playing golf with his cousin, John Chavez. Jimmy had two great loves in his life. From these two remarkable ladies he fathered four children: Christie Hernandez, Michelle Harmon and Michael and Tony Hernandez. He loved his kids and did his best to provide for them. He embraced being a great grandfather towards the end of his life when his first great grandchild, Jackson Jennings, was born. He never got the chance to meet and dote on his first great granddaughter, Evalyn Gelina. Jimmy passed away after a brief illness and spent his final days surrounded by his children, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez, sisters Linda Hernandez and Nancy Ovalle. Jimmy is survived by Father Jimmy Hernandez, daughters Christie Hernandez and Michelle Harmon, sons Michael and Tony Hernandez, stepson Richard Harkrader, sons-in-law Will Castillo and Eric Harmon, sister Debra Gardner. He is also survived by his grandchildren Elizabeth Nicholson and Christopher and Justin Gelina, great-grandson Jackson Jennings and great-granddaughter Evalyn Gelina. Other beloved family members included nieces Linda Ovalle, Analisa Munoz, Cortney and Mia Garner and nephew Alex Garner and many great-nieces and nephews.
