Obituary of Fitzpatrick, Lynda S.

Lynda Sue Louden Fitzpatrick was born in 1936 in Long Beach, California.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Tom Fitzpatrick, whom she met at UC Santa Barbara; her daughter, Kathleen Antonini (Greg Antonini) of Boise, Idaho; her son, Mark Fitzpatrick (Frances Dare) of Dallas; grandchildren, Tanya Antonini (Gabe Araujo), Kyle Antonini, Peter Fitzpatrick, Chase Fitzpatrick, and Alina Fitzpatrick.  Her only brother, Chuck Louden of Marblehead, Massachusetts, also survives her.  Lynda began to volunteer as a teenager and continued to do so throughout her life.  She believed writing a check helped, but that to give of oneself as a volunteer was a special gift.  While living in California, she developed the student volunteer program at the University of California at Riverside.  The family moved to Dallas in 1972, and Lynda served as Director of Volunteers at Children’s Medical Center for 20 years.  Upon retirement, she volunteered at North Dallas Shared Ministries for the next 15 years.  Lynda felt blessed to be a Eucharistic Minister and Good Samaritan at St. Rita Catholic Church and was a long time member of the Tuesday Bible Study Women’s Group.  Lynda loved her family, her faith, classical music, reading mysteries, the beaches of southern California, and nature.  She touched the lives of many, and will be greatly missed by her long-time friends.  A Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on December 13th at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Road, Dallas, TX 75244.  A funeral mass will be on December 14th at 1:00 pm at St. Rita’s.    A private burial will take place at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House, P.O. Box 1390, Lake Dallas, TX  75065; or St. Mary’s Residential Training School, P.O. Box 7768, Alexandria, LA  71306. Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.

Years ago my granddaughter, now an RN and Mother of three, volunteered together at Children’s Hospital under the wonderful tutelage of Linda. I so admired her dedication and compassion and looked forward to visiting with her each week. May God be with you all in your loss of a good woman.
