Obituary of Manning, III, Martin H.

Marty Manning, a long time resident of Carrollton, was born in Denison, Texas on November 25, 1966. After more than a year courageously battling pancreatic cancer, Marty passed away on December 26 at home surrounded by his loving family.  Embracing life from the start as a true adventure, Marty always demonstrated great heart, wit, and an extraordinary sense of humor.  He was as easy going as anyone could be, but very quick with funny bits of wit for anyone ready for a good laugh.  He had such positive influence on his family, friends and work associates.  He loved his family, his many friends, his 27 year tenure at Kroger, the Dallas Cowboys, fantasy football, poker and fishing.  Left behind to cherish his memory is wife, Carrie, children Macey Manning, Makayla Manning and  Jonathan Fletcher of the home; parents Hagan Manning and wife Dennie,  Patti Harmon and husband Gary, sisters Amy Imthurn and Lisa Campbell and husband Mike, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Philip Salem, the staff of Salem Oncology in Houston, Texas and Kroger for their extraordinary care and support.  Honorary pallbearers include Phil English, Todd Frank, Barry Clanton, Brett Braddy, Troy Burkle and Joel Hodge.  A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Carrollton, 2400 Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX75006 on Tuesday, December 31 at 11:00 AM.  Please visit www.northdallasfun.wpengine.com for online condolences. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to FPR Foundation in Marty’s honor, mail to P. O. Box 110043, Carrollton, TX75006...  Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.

My heart is so heavy right now. Thoughts & prayers with Carrie and the family. Mr. Manning always put a smile on everyone’s face. So kind….I can’t believe he is gone but I know he is looking down on us and blessing us all with his beautiful smile and kindness.

I’m an old Kroger maintenance mechanic and I think I first met Marty when he was a meat cutter at the Kroger on Preston and Park. Over the years we worked together as he was promoted to store manager and moved to different stores around the Metroplex. He treated everyone as a friend and was always easy going. I often wondered how he could remain a store manager but he was just that good. I’ll miss him and am sorry for your loss.

Gayla and I are so sorry for your loss. What a courageous battle was waged by Marty and the entire family during his illness. It was an example for all to see. Our hope is that God’s peace will be real in your lives and that you will lean upon Him for strength. Don’t forget to comfort each other; for as we need comfort, we will find comfort by giving it. Our extended family will be in prayer for yours.
