Corbett, Matthew George

Matthew George Corbett of Dallas, Texas died on March 28, 2014 following a brief illness. Matt was born on July 27, 1955 in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  His parents were Elizabeth Burn Corbett and Roger Corbett. Matt left his hometown to attend Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.  Matt married Patricia O’Hara and they had two children, John Rawson Corbett and Kaitlyn Elizabeth Corbett. Matt deeply loved his children, took great pride in their accomplishments, and inspired them to become compassionate adults. Inclusive and respectful of everyone he met, he freely gave his time to people in need. His friends will remember Matt for his tremendous sense of humor and storytelling.  An avid outdoorsman, Matt enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, and golf.

Matt worked with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity where he was an integral part of the Construction team. He was responsible for supervising rehabilitation projects to prepare existing and foreclosed homes for new Habitat homeowners. Matt worked tirelessly and with pride ensuring the reconstruction was thoroughly completed so that a Dallas Habitat Partner family could achieve their dream of homeownership.  The mission of Habitat for Humanity is seeking to put God’s love in action, bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.  Matt lived this mission, was passionate in serving others, and enjoyed working with fellow Dallas Habitat employees and community volunteers. He will be missed and remembered for his dedication, generosity and many accomplishments. Prior to joining Habitat, Matt was a long time Dallas home builder with ICC certifications and a Director of Marketing at Pangburn Company where he coordinated new product development. Left to cherish his memories are Pat, John, and Kaitlyn Corbett and his sister, Susan Hooks and husband Dane of Dallas.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Dallas, TX on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial gathering.  Burial at the Columbarium Chapel at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Las Cruces, NM will be at a later date. Matt, gonna miss you bud and i pray for your family's comfort.
Philipians 4:6,7 is a recipe for comfort.
I have faith in john 5:28,29 & Revelation 21:3,4 where it says you'll be back, albeit under better world conditions.
I'll be thinking of you from time to time until i see you again in the new world Jehovah promised us at Daniel 2:44 and Jesus verified at matthew 6:9,10. So until them i better keep up the good work.
