Obituary of Ferguson, Charles R.

Charles R. Ferguson, a long-time Dallas resident, businessman and civic leader, died April 21, 2014 in Dallas. Charles was born January 15, 1925 in Duncanville. He attended SMU, receiving a Masters Degree in Engineering and was a registered professional engineer and consultant. Charles served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was founder and president of Texas Supporting State Schools, served on the board of the Dallas County Mental Health Mental Retardation Center and was president of the board of the Special Care School in Dallas. Charles chaired the board of governors of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and was a member of the Dallas Citizens Council for nearly three decades. Charles worked for Oilwell Suppy Company for many years and was an organizer and partner in LWFW Management Consulting firm in Dallas. He was a founding member of the Institute of Management Consultants and served on the boards of a number of companies. Charles is survived by his wife, Billie (Cindy); a son, John B. Ferguson and his wife, Robyn, of Chicago; a daughter, Rebecca Ferguson of Dallas; a daughter, Rachel Ferguson, a resident of the Texas State Supported Living Center at Denton, as well as two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service for Charles will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, April 25, in the McGowan Auditorium located in the Corrigan Building at Presbyterian Village North, 8600 Skyline Drive, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Volunteer Service, Texas State Supported Living Center, Box 368, Denton, Texas 76202. Please send condolences to the family on this website.
