“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”
I was sad to hear about Mrs. Saine’s passing. I have wondered about her many times. She was my high school chemistry teacher for 2 years at J. J. Pearce high school and actually had a quite an influence on my life. I first signed up to take Chemistry I just as a graduation requirement. Being in that first class, she gave me a love of chemistry and I took the second year class. I decided to major in Chemistry at Texas Tech University and got my B.S. degree in Chemistry from Tech in 1976. After graduation, I got my first job as a chemist in a lab at Texas Instruments in Houston. She had a gift for teaching and I’m glad that she was an influence for leading me to a successful career. Peace to her family at this time.

My most sincere condolences for the loss of Mrs. Saine, but from my viewpoint, it was truly a life well lived, as she was a wonderful person, teacher and mentor. I was one of her students in her early years at J. J. Pearce High School. I had her for two years of chemistry, and that was a huge influence to my later decision to become a chemical engineer. She taught, pushed and supported us in an effort to help us be the best students and people that we could be. She encouraged us to think big, and she is the primary reason that I ended up going to Rice University, a decision that has served me well through the years.
We kept in touch for most of the years since high school, including visits to her retirement homes in Tennessee and Dallas. I’ll certainly always treasure the time we spent together, both as teacher/student and our later converstaions.
