Obituary of Bevis, Steven D.

Steven T. Bevis, 58, Garland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, with his wife by his side, after a lengthy illness. Steven was born in Athol, Massachusetts and lived in Massachusetts as a child then New Jersey then Dallas and in 1967 went back to Phillipston, Massachusetts where he took what he had learned about Texas football back with him to Narragansett Regional High School. After graduation he went to the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut before moving his family to Garland where he finished his education at the University of North Dallas while working for Simplex. Steven had a 20 year career as an Engineer and District Manager with Teradyne in their Richardson and Plano offices. Steven was an avid sports fan, enjoyed riding motorcycles, shooting pool, camping, loved anything involving water be it swimming or sailing his Hobie Cat, and had an immense love of animals, especially his best friend Ruger, a 140lb Rottweiler. Preceding him in death are his father, Thomas E. Bevis of Denton, Texas in 1998; his 4-legged pal Ruger in 2003; his Aunt Judy Johnson of Phillipston, Massachusetts in 2004; and his Gramma Doris and Grampa Reino Hill of Phillipston, Massachusetts in 2007 and 2008. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Davis-Bevis of Garland, Texas; his son, Daniel (wife Lauryn) of Dallas, Texas; his son Jonathon (wife Nicole) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; stepdaughter Kristi Perzel and stepson Joshua Perzel, both of New Braunfels, Texas; and stepdaughter Abbigail Perzel of Garland, Texas. He has 4 grandchildren in Texas and 1 grandchild in Virginia. He is also survived by his mother Vurla O'Hara and her husband Richard of East Falmouth, Massachusetts; his stepmother Lucy Bevis Robinson of Grand Prairie, Texas; his 3 brothers, Scott (wife Peggy) of Athol, Massachusetts; Bobby (wife Betty Anne) of Marstons Mills, Massachusetts; and Randy (wife Jamie) of Aledo, Texas along with his nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family asks that you remember his smile and in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to your favorite animal shelter. There will be a Celebration of Life on April 9, 2011 at the Hackberry Pavilion in Avalon Park at Lake Lavon in Wylie, Texas at 4:00pm. Cremation Services were handled by North Dallas Funeral Home.
