Brown, Norman Simon

Norman Simon Brown was born April 17, 1929 in New York City, NY to the late Maxwell and Florence Brown. He graduated from Hamden High in Connecticut and went on to earn his degree in mechanical and electrical engineering from Worcester Polytech and M.I.T. He was a World War II veteran serving in the O.S.S. in Belgium and France where he helped organize efforts against the occupation.  He came to Dallas in the early 1950s where he established his company IBL Engineering and Sales.  He later coupled this with his law practice after graduating from SMU Law School in the late 60s.  He officed at the same location for over 40 years at the Preston Royal Shopping Center, where he established many beautiful and lasting friendships.

Norman was active with the Dallas Fencing Club, he also enjoyed playing tennis with his two sons at Churchill Park. He liked pistachio nuts, steak tartar sandwiches, antique guns and antique cars.  An insatiably industrious nature together with his endless generosity continued to distinguish him well into his retirement years as he worked tirelessly with the Service Core of Retired Executives to assist new and beginning small business owners. Here as well, he created many beautiful and lasting friendships through the generosity of his service.

He is preceded in death by his first two wives Jean and Deanna Brown, as well as his oldest son Robert Norman Brown.

He is survived by his youngest son Dr. Stephen Brown, his wife Dorothy Jean Brown, step-daughters Holly Peer, Susan Cummins, Angie Miklos and Deidra Juba.

Norman passed away quietly in the early morning hours of Monday November 24, 2014.

We are diminished.
