Obituary of Strong, David Truett

David Truett Strong, born November 18, 1935, to parents Jesse and Theo Strong, passed away August 25, 2014 in Dallas, Tx He was a loving, genuine and caring man and an angel for those fortunate enough to know him. He was worthy of America’s best generation and made a point of shaking the hand of every veteran with whom he came in contact. David was an excellent athlete growing up in Fort Worth and well liked by all who came to know him. After graduating high school, he attended Baylor University in Waco, Tx for his undergraduate work and obtained a degree in psychology. From there, he attended Southwest Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and was awarded his Masters in Divinity. David entered the ministry and after successfully pastoring churches in Ohio and Everman, Texas, he then entered into a career in commercial real estate brokerage in Fort Worth where he became a leading member of the real estate community and respected businessman. Throughout his life, David had an interest and giftedness in photography. In the latter part of his professional life, he finally pursued his life-long dream of photographing professionally and became a professional artist and photographer in the early 1990’s. With his life-long attraction and connection with the setting and scenery of Santa Fe, David immersed his professional photography career on the colors, light and subtle beauty of northern New Mexico and the high desert. David enjoyed this part of his life like no other – he was truly living his dream. David is survived by his wife of 56 years Trilby, two sons, Steven of Dallas, Tx and Scott of Denver, Co.; his daughter-in-law's, Janet and Ivonne; and his beautiful grandchild, Trevor, who is the son of Scott and Ivonne. David is also survived by his sister Charlotte Peters of Dallas, Tx; brothers, Jesse of Washington DC, Charles and his wife, Shirley of Fort Worth, and Paul and his wife, Bitsy of Arlington, Tx, as well as numerous nephews and nieces all of whom are loving and amazing people.

  1. Trevor Strong says:

Grandad was always there for me when I least expected it. He was always a kind figure, a person you can look up to and rely on. And if you were going through something he would always pray for you. I would always look back fondly on the memories I had with him back in Texas when I would visit him yearly and we would always have fun with each other. I miss you.

  3. Jesse, Brother says:

Twelve days prior to his tenth birthday I left home for an Army life; never to return for other than short visits. While our physical togetherness was rather erratic; our fraternal closeness was ever present. I followed him and his family with admiration. I (we) have enjoyed being the beneficiaries of his art. He was the outdoorsman of the family. Long have I looked into the Winter skies at the constellation Orion and thought of his feats. He fought his last battle with courage and dignity admirably. Memory lives until the day we meet in that place prepared for Christians by our Saviour.

  4. Sherry Senevey says:

I considered David my brother-in-law long after that relationship legally existed. He was always quick with a hug through the many years regardless of our status. He was loving and kind and my children adored his many holiday antics. You will be well-missed, David. Love you all the way to heaven and back.
