Obituary of Davis, James P.

On Saturday, June 9, 2012, Jim Davis entered into heaven. His wife and many family members were close by his side throughout his final hard fought battle with cancer, but God's plans and purpose for Jim obtained final acceptance and certificate of occupancy with a mansion in glory. Public Viewing: Tuesday, June 12, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Brooks Family Chapel at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX 75234. Final Viewing: Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon at First United Methodist Church, 2201 East Hebron Parkway, Carrollton, TX 75010. Funeral Service: 12 Noon at the church with burial to follow in Hilltop Memorial Park in Carrollton. Guest Reception: Following the Graveside Service at Jim and Kunthea Davis Home 17715 Voss Road Dallas, TX 75287 (1-1/2 blocks north of Trinity Mills, between Midway & Tollway) Jim's accomplishments in life are many. The skylines of the Dallas area and numerous cities around the country changed through his 60+ years' construction management career. His last assignment here - the new Parkland Hospital of Dallas - was the last of many such large projects he oversaw. The former CEO of Parkland, Dr. Ron Anderson, said in a recent email: "Jim has contributed so much to Parkland on our bond programs and construction going back to the 1980 bond program and now our replacement program. He is a real soldier, and was always a steady rock you could count on. I know this last part of his life has been difficult, but I know Jim is a person touched by Grace, because he gave so much to our combined efforts to create the infrastructure to take better care of the poor. I believe humility is a great strength among many others he's exhibited in his professional and personal life. He knew our ultimate purpose and always engaged in such a way as to be sure we accomplished it. I admire him greatly.
