January 6, 1944 - June 6, 2022
Doris Olene Arapis, 78, of Carrollton, Texas went peacefully to be with the Lord and her husband, Bruce Arapis, on Monday, June 6, 2022.
Her smile and humor remained evident throughout her illness.
Olene was born on January 6, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to Olen Paris “O.P.” and Omazelle Davis. After moving to Dallas from Lubbock and starting her junior year at Rylie High School, she soon met the love of her life, Bruce, while in Chemistry class.
If you knew Olene, then you’re sure to have received a card from her at some point, as she loved writing notes to people and collecting stationery. Bruce would say he made a mistake by not agreeing to let her open a stationery store when she wanted to and becoming the next Hallmark. Olene also enjoyed spending her free time and weekends at their lake house on Lake Texoma. Walnut Creek residents will miss seeing her smile and hearing her laugh while sitting out on the porch. Olene loved the Lord and lived her life to do the right thing, she always reminded people to be grateful for what they had and to remember that the Lord is in control.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Arapis; parents O.P. and Oma Davis; and brother Ronald Dean Davis.

We are so sad to hear about Olene. She and Bruce were both great friends of ours. She was so full of life and always had a laugh and smile. Sending prayers and love to all the family especially Nicole who kept us informed and took excellent care of them both. Our only regret is that we didn’t meet them sooner. Glad Olene you are reunited with your Bruce. RIP until we meet again 🙏🏻❤️
I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of both your Mom and Dad and visiting at your house and many fond memories of your family at Story Road Christian Church. My prayers are with your family for peace and comfort during this season of grief.
I did not know Olene well. I stayed in their home one night when I had an early flight or meeting the next day. I was invited to stay by her son, Brent. Brent and I met at Baylor and have been friends ever since.
Olene was very gracious and welcoming. I know that everyone who knew her well will miss her terribly.
Olene and I went to high school together. She and Bruce married the day before my husband and I married. Olene never failed to send us an anniversary card. We enjoyed our long talks on the phone and she always made me laugh. I will always cherish our friendship and will miss Olene. She was a thoughtful and faithful friend.
My sincere condolences 💘💐
We are so saddened by the news of Olene’s passing. We thought highly of Olene. Olene and Bruce were so welcoming to us when we moved into the trailer park at Walnut Creek and have been good friends for many years. Our thoughts and prayers for Olene’s family and friends.
We will miss Olene and all the fun times that we had with her and Bruce at Lake Texoma.
