Obituary of Emberton, Wilma Joyce

Wilma Emberton of Carrollton, Texas, was called Home on Friday, March 14, 2014, by her Heavenly Father where she joined her beloved husband. She was born on November 21, 1930, in Olton, Texas, to Roy and Sallie McAfee. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Clyde Emberton.  In Olton, they farmed and started their young family before moving to Halfway, Texas to establish Emberton Supply. Wilma enjoyed her role as mother, homemaker, and part-time hairdresser.  In 1995, they sacrificially left their life in the country, retired from their family business, and moved to Carrollton to live near family. Wilma was an active member of the First Baptist Churches of Halfway, Plainview and Carrollton where she faithfully served in various ministries.  She graciously used her gift of hospitality to plan and host countless events.  Her natural creativity flowed when she tackled projects such as cooking, sewing, decorating and even remodeling. She loved her family above all things on this earth and supported not only her daughters, but also her grandchildren in their endless activities.  Wilma’s legacy to her family is that of a faithful wife, loving mother and the greatest “Nana” on earth.  She enjoyed countless weekends at the family lake house, playing games and cooking delicious snacks and meals. She was also a faithful caregiver to her mother, father and two sisters for many years. Those left behind to cherish her memories are daughters Yvonne Fuller of Lake Limestone and husband Buck; and Connie Wheeler of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Neal Fuller of Austin; Justin Fuller of Temple and wife Allie; Whitney Wheeler Collins of Carrollton and husband John; Clayton Wheeler of Carrollton; and one great-granddaughter, Camille Fuller of Temple. Wilma was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Clyde Emberton; parents Roy and Sallie McAfee; brother, Charlie McAfee;  sisters, Ruth Ferguson and Helen Sparks; and son-in-law, Bill Wheeler. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to friends and neighbors for their support.   A special thanks to Leona Driver, as well as other staff members of A Servant’s Heart for providing loving care during her final months. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, March 18th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas  75234. A memorial service to honor Wilma’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 19th, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Carrollton, 2400 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75006 with Pastors Johnny Layton of Lake Limestone Baptist Church and Rip Cannon of First Baptist Church Carrollton.  Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. Memorial donations may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 113355, Carrollton, TX 75011. Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.

Wilma was such a beautiful woman in so many ways, but her greatest attribute was that she had a servant’s heart. There are many fond memories that come to mind when you think of Clyde and Wilma. They blessed many people through the years. Our deepest sympathy. Love, Robin and Judy Isbell

“Precious in the eyes of the Lord is the death of his saints.” Connie, I will always treasure the times we had many years ago with your folks, Clyde and Wilma. They are a sweet memory to me and I know your treasure chest is truly full. At last, your wonderful Mom is at rest with Him and with her husband. Sharing in your sadness as best I can, Bill R.

Connie, My prayers are with you & your family. The loss of a mother, then is perhaps the biggest loss anyone has to deal with. Unfortunately, the death of a parent is something most people have to see and experience. While some people naturally hold the capacity to endure such a heavy loss, for some it is indeed a tough period to get through. God guiding you in this difficult time.

    Dear Connie, Yvonne & Family,

May your Mother’s life be honored by all she loved.
May her memory be cherished by all she gave.
May your heart be comforted by all you shared.
An Mother’s love makes life immeasurably better
and our world infinitely more beautiful.
You honor her everyday in how you
    live and who you are.

In the Loss of your Mother who shared your Life,
to know sorrow is to acknowledge the love that was yours….
To carry on with a heart full of memories is to be wholly and lovingly human….
To heal, day by day, is to build a bridge of love
that will reach far beyond time into Forever.

Because we loved, there will be tears..
    Because we laughed,
    there will be memories..
Because they lived, there will still be
    joy.

God is with you Remembering her beautiful spirit, her giving heart,
and the many lives she touched.

May God give you comfort, peace,
strength, and courage for all your tomorrows.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints.” Connie, I remember Wilma and her lively and fun spirit in the midst of her family from many years ago. It was a joyous time. We have such confidence in Christ that this time is bearable. He has conquered death and because of thisZrVdtV we will be together again. You are assured of this I know, but it comforts us to think on these things. My deepest sympathies.
