Harris, Arthur (Art) E.
Arthur (Art) Esir Harris passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2012 wearing a burnt orange UT T-shirt, surrounded by his immediate family. Art was born on March 26, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to Beatrice and Ben Harris. Art survived his brother, Buddy and is survived by Bernard (Jean). Upon completion of his army service, Art enrolled in UT Austin and joined the AEPi Fraternity. While at the University, he met the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Goldfeder, they married and were blessed to share 55 wonderful years together. Art spent 20 years managing the People Store in Hugo, Oklahoma, before moving to Dallas to join the banking industry. He started out at Dallas International Bank and later moved to Mercantile Bank. He founded the Independent Bank of Plano where he served as President and CEO. Art was well-known for his business acumen and unparalleled customer relationships. He was a member of both Shearith Israel and Beth Torah Congregations. Art was an avid sportsman, a pilot, a hunter, golfer, and a member of the NRA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte and is survived by his children, Lynn Harris, Lisa Kislak, and Toby Harris and grand-children, Danielle Rugoff, Sasha Kislak, Brandon Harris, and Debra Goss, and his brother-in-law, Gary Goldfeder (Donna). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 3rd at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 3:00 PM with Rabbi Jeffrey Leynor officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Arthur Harris to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of your choice. Services were entrusted to Stephen B. Blend, Jewish Funeral Director. Please send condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
