Huie, Jr., Sherman R.
Sherman R. Huie Jr. passed away
Friday, September 24, 2012. He
was born on April 24, 1929 to Ruby
E. Gray and Sherman R. Huie Sr. in
Brady, Texas.
He attended schools in Brady, and Melvin prior to his graduation from Eden High School in 1946. He attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, majoring in art and photography. He graduated from New York Institute of Photography in 1955.
During the Korean War, Sherman
joined the United States Air Force
and served four years. He felt it an honor and privilege to serve his country.
He was married to Marie Carmichael in 1950 in Eden, Texas.
They were the first couple to have a formal wedding at the new Eden Methodist Church.
Sherman was hired by Photochrome, a new company in Dallas, to be one of their first dye transfer technicians. The company later became Meisel Photocrome Corporations in Dallas.
He always loved art and photogra-
phy and thought he was fortunate
to be able to combine them for a career and a hobby.
Sherman was predeceased in death by a son-in-law, David Martin. He is survived by his wife, Marie Carmichael; two daughters, Sheryl Culley and husband Steve, and Jan Martin; five grandchildren, Amanda Bontrager and husband Kent, Stephanie Roberts and husband Andrew, Katherine Martin, Lauren Corser and husband Will, and Robert Martin, and one great-grandson, William Bontrager. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Vaniece Jacoby, nephew Jackie Jacoby, and nieces Melody Schotte and Tammy Glover.
Sherman loved life, his family, his work, his home, his church, his friends, and his dog, Madeline.
Sherman was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Services will be held September 28, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Templeton Trail, Farmers Branch, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Methodist Children
