Landau, Sylvan S.
Landau, Sylvan Funeral services for Sylvan Landau, who died on May 9, 2010 at the age of 85 at Baylor Hospital, will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest, Dallas, Tx on May 11, 2010 at 3:00 pm. Preceded in death by parents Louis and Ray Landau; brothers, Charlie and Willie and sister, Eva Berlin. He is survived by his wife, Margie Levy Bernard Landau of 32 years; sisters, Thelma Heidenheimer of Abilene, Doris Zale (Lew) and sister-in-law, Selma Landau; children, Joyce Blackledge, of El Paso, Jeffrey Bernard (Jan) of Albuquerque, NM and Barry Bernard, Victorville, CA. Grandchildren; Jared Blackledge, Bonnie Blackledge, Joby Bernard, Lyle Schonberger (Angie) of Troy, Michigan; great grandson, Andrew Schonberger. Nieces and Nephews; Leslie Zale Greco (Rick), Melissa and Lauren Greco, Scot Zale (Staci), Jerry Landau, Sandy Phillips (Jeff), Rhonda Ringler, Rochelle Hernandes (Freddie), Greg Phillips, Carla Heidenheimer, Mitchell Heidenheimer (Clarise), Larry Berlin (Gayle), Angie and Stephanie Berlin. Accomplishments included, founding Dallas Father of the Year Council, National Father's Day Council, was on the Baylor Medical Center Foundation, Men's Fashion Association, Jewish Home for the Aged, sponsorship of the Annual Special Olympics Awards and received the Steele Foundation Lifetime Acheivement Award. The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers, Walteretta, Jiles, Erica Jiles and Petrice Armstrong, who lovingly cared for him for the last few years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Dallas Area Parkinson Society (www.daps .us), Dallas Father of the Year (www.fatheroftheyearawards.org), or the Sylvan Landau Founders Scholarship Communications Foundation of Texas (www.cftexas.org).
