Obituary of
McCord, Carolyn J.
Carolyn Joan Galloway McCord died peacefully at her daughter's home on April 5, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
Joan was born on June 10, 1939 near Omaha, Texas to Thomas Irvie and Mary Lucille Davis Galloway. She spent most of her childhood in Omaha, where she was a majorette, and played saxophone and drums in the band. She had a beautiful soprano voice which she shared in church and community events. She enjoyed many crafts, including painting and cross-stitching. A true Southern Belle, Joan captured the heart of a young man serving in the Air Force, Jerry Connelly. They married and raised a son and three daughters throughout the U.S. and abroad. The oldest son, Kenny, died at the age of 6 months. Joan was the anchor of her family and taught them good Christian values. Community conscious, she volunteered at church, school and in the community.
After their divorce, Joan moved back to Texas, where she fell in love with and married Windell McCord, a hospital administrator. Together they made a home for Joan
