Mary Sue Rogers passed away on
Wednesday, March 9, 2011 after
battling cancer for the last several months. Mary Sue was born in Haskell, Texas on Aug. 7, 1932.
She attended New Castle Elementary, and it was during this time she became a champion jump roper and developed a love for history. Mary Sue and her family moved to the Dallas area when she was approx. 12 yrs. old living in Carrollton, Dallas, and finally settling in Farmers Branch. During that time she attended Walnut Hill Elementary and
the old Carrollton High School.
She was 13 yrs. old when she joined the First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch. After gaining experience in electronics by working in a small radio repair shop at age 17, Mary Sue worked for Geophysical Instruments (the original name of Texas
Instruments) for several years. She married Johnny E. Rogers, Sr. on Sept. 25, 1954. They eventually
settled in Farmers Branch where
they have lived since 1960. Together Mary Sue and Johnny had two children, Johnny Jr. born May 20, 1955 and Mary Elisebeth born Sept. 4, 1960. Mary Sue began pursuing her love of genealogy in 1973 which put her in contact with many people over the years and even held the position of Church Historian at her church. She also continued her electronics career were she was employed by Xerox Corp. until she retired early for health reasons.
