My condolences to Carla’s family. Carla, worked so very hard to further the equality and advancement of women and girls through education as a valued member of AAUW. We will miss her. I also have notified Phi Lamba Theta of the loss of our fellow member. It was not mentioned in the obit but Carla also served on their national board of directors and if I remember correctly as a vice-president. Finally, as a parent, I will always value Carla’s service as principle during both my daughter’s time at Turner.
Oh how Carla loved to sing as we in AAUW can attest to and now she is singing with the angels!

Carla was a tremendous coach and mentor to me, one of her RL Turner debaters. We loved her and loved to joke with her, and we learned and succeeded. She gave tremendously of her energy to her students, rode us hard when necessary, and cheered us when we won. We proudly sang, in those bygone days, that “RL Turner is where speech and drama are No 1!”. Love you always, Carla.

Carla Magee was an amazing teacher who played a big role in shaping me into an effective trial lawyer. She touched my life when I was a high school student. I went on to law school and have been doing work in the courtroom for 30 years. I love what I do because, my beloved, “Mrs. Magee” taught me to love communication and helped me learned to do it well.

She will be missed but her wit, style, charm and influence lives on in the hearts of those she touched.

She was generous with her time, talent and God-given gifts.

My heart goes out to her loved ones and I send my best wishes to all of her family. Please know that she was loved by many people who you have never met but were made better by having met her.

May God bless you richly. God now holds Carla in His loving arms.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Carla’s entire family. Carla (or Ms. McGee as we called her when we were being formal and Carlanez when we were being playful) had a profound impact on generations beyond her own, oftentimes without being fully aware of the results of her efforts. The 3 years I spent in Carla’s Speech Classes at R.L. Turner were the highlight of my time in high school. She was an excellent teacher who cared for and protected a group of often eratic teenagers. She helped make me a better person. I can give no higher compliment to an educator.

Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved one. This is one of the most difficult things we must face in this life. May it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. But the bible assures us at Psalms 34:18 that God is near to those broken in heart and those crushed in spirit he saves. He also promises that we will be able to see our loved ones again. Jesus own words found at John 5:28,29 tells us there will be a resurrection. What a wonderful hope! He also says that soon on the earth there will be no more pain, suffering and especially death.
Revelation 21:3-5 We anxiously await the day when we will no longer lose those we love. May these bible thoughts bring you comfort at this most difficult time.

Carla was such a light in C-FB. Her spirit was indomintable and her laugh contagious. She will be missed by us, but welcomed with open arms by the Lord.

  8. Mrs. McGee was a friend at CFBISD. I loved her spirit and loved to be around her. She made even us secretaries feel as though we were an important person in CFBISD. God is rejoicing in heaven to have Carla there with Him.

  12. I remember fondly the times I was able to be with and work with Carla at Alpha State, Texas, State conventions. She was always a funny something to say, but was very serious about the activities of Delta Kappa Gamma.
    My sympathy to your family.

  16. I know Carla is finally happy with her Lord and reunited with her beloved daughter. My condolences go out to all her family. I have so many happy memories of Carla from our times together at Delta Kappa Gamma, from her time at McCoy Elem and from serving with her on committees when she was an Asst Supt in C-FB. I also remember her wonderful voice from the choirs at Delta Kappa Gamma conventions and when she sang on the living Christmas Tree at First Baptist in Carrollton. Carla, may eternal rest be granted unto you, and may perpetual light shine upon you.

  21. Dan and family,
I am heartbroken to hear about Carla’s passing. I am among many who have wonderful memories of Carla, from many years of working with her and having her as a dear friend. I will never forget her delightful stories, her “See me, pls” mailbox messages, the joy of surprising her on her birthdays, and her great facial expressions.
    She will always be remembered.

Carla was truly an “angel flying too close to the ground”. She was a dear friend, always there when someone needed a lift – funny, kind, compassionate, non-judgmental, smart, talented. Carla left this world a better place because she was here, and she left me a better person because she was my friend.

What a zest for life Carla had! I have so many fond memories of her. I have often thought of her lately due to the conflict at the Dallas County Elections office. We spent many anxioius moments there, awaiting the outcome of elections. But she was victorious, and is victorious now because she has overcome death. God bless you all who were close to Carla. She left an indelible mark on countless people.

  29. I loved Mrs. McGee like a second mother during my High School years. She guided me and made me a tremendous forensic success. She put up with my outrageous behavior with great patience and understanding, all the time knowing the person I could be. I owe her a great debt of graditude every time I speak to a group…which almost every week.

    Love you Carla.
