Obituary of
Merris, William V.
passed away August 26, 2009 at the age of 84. Bill will be remembered as a kind, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Born in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of John and Mary Merris. Bill graduated from East Orange High School and the University of Oklahoma. He enlisted in the US Navy during WWII, was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant at Fort Sill, OK. He also served in Korea and was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Bill retired from Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Carlene; son, William K. of Wilmington, NC, Barbara Etker and husband Dale of Austin and Kathy Price and husband Kevin of Carrollton; grandchildren Morgan Price, Jessica and Danielle Etker; sisters, Muriel Coffey of Chapel Hill, NC and Jean Degiore of Little Falls, NJ; brother, John Merris of Shrewsbury, NJ. Services will be August 31, 2009 at Mary Immaculate Church, 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, TX. A Rosary will be held at 10:30 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 am.
