Meyercord, Philip L.

Philip Leslie Meyercord was born on July 4, 1950 in Summit, New Jersey and died at home in Plano, Texas of natural causes on February 21, 2009. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas (1968) and attended Dartmouth College and the University of Texas at Austin. He served as a medic with the US Army in Vietnam receiving the combat medic and air medals.

He loved the theater. For several years he was an actor and set designer with the Irving Community Theater. He loved music and had a beautiful baritone voice. He had a quiet wit and a brilliant mind; was a dedicated debater, a talented poet and an expert craftsman. Most of his employment career was spent as a construction project manager, most recently with Encore Enterprises, Inc.

Philip is survived by Robert Meyercord and Raven Meyercord Lathrop, and by sisters, Susan Meyercord Curran and Martha Meyercord Wilson, brothers, Ken, David and Andy Meyercord and their spouses, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline Roach Meyercord and Kenneth Nyman Meyercord and his brother, Chris Meyercord.

A memorial service will be held February 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Wynne Chapel, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Meyercord Library or The Amelia Katherine Robison Memorial Fund, both c/o Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas 75205.
