Milam, Bessie Pierce Left us to join her husband, Thomas V. Milam, her son Ronnie James Milam In Their Eternal Home. Bess was born March 14, 1916 to J. Dud Pierce and Mary Emma Pierce in Dallas County near Cockrell Hill Road and Loop 12, where she lived her entire life. Bessie married Thomas V. Milam on August 31, 1940. She attended Cockrell Hill Grade School, graduated from Sunset High School in 1932. Her career was secretary and office manager for several large banks and corporations in Dallas. She was a member of 5 Mile Baptist Church, Cockrell Hill Baptist Church and the Colonial Hill Baptist Church of Cedar Hill. She served as Secretary, Treasury of the Five Mile Cemetery for many years. Bess is survived by her brother Jack D. Pierce and his wife Virginia Hudler Pierce, her Great Nephew Kevin R. Murray and his wife Karen Murray of Mesquite; her Great Great Nephew Patrick Dale Murray who is a Private in the U.S. Army serving in Iraq and her Great Great Niece Samantha Reiver of Mesquite, Texas. Family visitation at North Dallas Funeral Home Thurs., Mar. 25, 2010 6-8pm. Graveside service Fri., Mar. 26 at 11am at Five Mile Cemetery, 3727 Kiest Blvd. @ Cockrell Hill Rd., Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital For Crippled Children and Hope Cottage of Dallas. The family extends appreciation and thanks to everyone at Avalon Residential Care Home.
