Moore, Billy B.
Billy B. Moore passed away Saturday Dec. 19, 2009, at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family. Memorial service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 6150 Pershing Ave., Fort Worth. Celebration of life and rosary prayer service: 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Winscott Road Funeral Home, 1001 Winscott Road, Benbrook, followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Billy was born March 12, 1932, in Venus to George and Daisy Moore. He married the love of his life, Sophie Rekieta, and together they enjoyed 55 years as a married couple. They had three lovely children, Clayton, Penelope and Luke. Billy loved life and lived it to the fullest. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a veteran of the Korean War. Billy cheered faithfully for the TCU Horned Frogs, and as an active member of his community he coached several sports including Pee-Wee football, wrestling and golf. An avid golfer for over 35 years, he enjoyed playing with his buddies at Glen Garden Country Club and Z-Boaz Golf Course. Billy was a proud member of the "River Oaks Mafia," a group of old friends from his high school years. He was also a recruiter for the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Billy spread laughter and joy with his elaborate stories and jokes. He was loved by all who knew him. Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Sophie Moore; children, Clayton and wife, Jewell Moore, Penelope Pamplin and Luke and wife, Marilisa Moore; grandchildren, Lindee, Gennie and Sean Moore, Travis Pamplin, Grady and Isaiah Moore; and a multitude of loving extended family and friends.
