Obituary of Nastri, Virginia ".

Died at the age of 89 on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at The Bentley in Farmers Branch where she had resided for the past two years. She was born in Orange, Texas January 21, 1922; the daughter of E. Ray Thompson and Gabriella Jones Thompson. Her family lived on a farm until she was 5 years old, when they moved to Louisiana, and again when her father was transferred to Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Little Rock High School and attended a junior college in Little Rock. Ginger discovered her passion for writing while working at Pfeifer's as a copywriter and later moved to New Orleans where she was employed by Mason Blanche. She married Eddy Withrow in 1943 and had two sons, Randall born in 1947 and Kim born in 1952. While raising her children she remained a freelance copywriter for DH Homes and Godchaux. Her family moved to Dallas in 1954 where Eddy started work for Wembley Neckwear. Ginger continued as a full time homemaker before joining Titches's doing layout and copywriting. Ginger and Eddy were divorced in 1961 and she remained in Dallas until she married Felton Henry in 1965 and moved to Abilene. Felton and Ginger returned to Dallas in 1969, where she worked for Neiman Marcus as a copy chief until she retired. Felton and Ginger were divorced in the mid 70s. After retiring, Ginger continued freelance copywriting fashion catalogs for Burdine's, Sakowitz and Horchow. During this period Ginger met Andrew "Andy" Nastri. They were married in 1980, lived in Grand Prairie and enjoyed the company of Andy's sons and their granddaughter Kate. After Andrew passed away in December 2000, Ginger moved into a retirement village in Lewisville. She spent her last 3 years with Stewart Swacker in Farmers Branch. Ginger's life was made more complete and loved the sons, daughter and families of her late husband Andrew Nastri; Vincent of Austin, Mark, Chris and Andy of Dallas, Steve of Pflugerville and Judie Johns of Nanuet, NY. She also very much loved Susan Busch, the daughter of her second husband, Felton Henry of Palm City, FL and Marilyn Huffman of Northampton, MA who she referred to as her one and only heart child. Ginger is preceded in death by her son Kim and is survived by her son Randall of Austin, granddaughter Kate of New Orleans, her sister Gloria Winfree of Fort Worth, her niece Claudia Miller of Farmington, NM, grand-nieces Angela Silva of Fruita CO, Samantha Miller of Farmington, NM and her last dear friend Stewart Swacker. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 13, 2011, from 2-4 pm, at the North Dallas Funeral Home, located at 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, Texas 75234.
