Obituary of
Phillips, Carol C.
Carol Colleen Gooding Phillips departed us on August 4th, 2011, to go be with her Blessed Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Carol was born December 26th, 1961 in Oswego, Kansas. She grew up in Oswego, Ft. Scott, KS, and Excelsior Springs, MO. After graduating from Excelsior Springs High School in 1980, she attended college at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Missouri. She joined the United States Navy in 1984, attending Basic Training in Orlando, Florida, and intensive electronics training in Vallejo, California to become a Data Systems Technician. During her naval career, Carol spent time in San Diego, CA, and Yokosuka, Japan. While in Japan, Carol gave birth to a beautiful girl, Patricia Jeanette Phillips. After the Navy, Carol and her family moved to Mesquite, Texas, where she became the pianist for a mission church, taught piano lessons, and gave financial counseling to many people. Carol loved making music, whether with her voice or with musical instruments (she played many). Carol also joined the Rich-Tones Chorus. During her time with the Rich-Tones, they competed and won their 5th International Chorus Championship. Carol is survived by her daughter, Patricia Jeanette Phillips of Richardson, TX; her parents, Gene and June Gooding of Gladstone, MO; her sister, Kelly Gooding of Des Moines, IA; and her brother, Christopher Gooding of Lakeland, FL; 2 nieces, 1 nephew; longtime friends and co-workers at Keasler Associates in Plano, TX.; Lady Armstrong, her dog; and numerous friends wherever she went. A memorial service will be held in Carol's honor on Saturday, August 13, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Prairie Creek Baptist Church, located at 3201 W. 15th St., Plano, TX, 972-596-4805
