Obituary of
Rice, Marion V.
Marion Vinelda Rice passed away October 20, 2008 at age 72. She was born in Los Angeles, California on October 21, 1935. She was a graduate of Siloam Springs High School and John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. She earned her masters degree in education from North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. She served as a teacher and librarian for 42 years and retired from the Dallas Independent School District. She held a very special spot in her heart for all her students and friends at Maple Lawn and Pleasant Grove Elementary Schools. Most recently, she was a volunteer at the Carrollton/Farmers Branch Senior Adult Services where she loved many people and many loved her. Marion touched many, many lives through her good works and zest for life. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 52 years, James W. Rice; her children, James Matthew "Matt" Rice (Yon), Lisa Rice McFarlin (Gregg), and Cynthia Rice Kenemore (Wayne); her grandchildren, Dawn and Andrew McFarlin; her sisters Kathleen Burrows (Tom) and Eleanor Taylor; niece Christine Taylor-Levy and nephew Scott Taylor; many other family members; and her oldest and dearest friend, Mary Highfill of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 21 at the North Dallas Funeral Home. A requiem mass will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Farmers Branch, Texas at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 22. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Adult Services of Carrollton/Farmers Branch.
