Smith, Leonard Jr. I.
Smith, Jr., Leonard Inglis Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Smitty died March 6, 2010. A native Dallasite, he attended Highland Park High School, where he was All-State left guard during the Doak Walker years. Smitty attended SMU and entered the insurance business traveling world-wide for his clientele. He was a long-time member of the Salesmanship Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Dallas County Club. Born July 11, 1927, the son of Leonard Inglis Smith, Sr. and Genevieve McEvoy, both of pioneering Dallas families, Smitty married Barbara Owen Barnes, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. His cherished wife Bo died in 2009. He is survived by daughters Amy Smith, Sloane Smith and Molly Moates, her husband David Moates and grandchildren Avery and Marissa. Two sons, Rocky and David, predeceased him. Smitty was an Army veteran, serving in counter-intelligence in post World War II Japan. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church off Oaklawn, March 11 at 10:30am.
