I met Chuck at my first Rally @ Texas when he shared his boat with me for an afternoon of fishing and “education”. Over the years I came to admire Chuck as a friend and as a great human being.

Chuck, you’ll be in my thoughts and prayers whenever I’m on the water and especially whenever I return to Lake Fork.

Rest in peace, old friend.

Charles Webb says:

It was truly a sad day when we learned of Chuck’s passing. I know he fought the good fight while trying to beat the big C.

Chuck and I spent many hours together as he organized the [email protected] Many, many people have great memories of the times during all of the Rally years and none of those would have happened without Chuck’s efforts.

Condolences to Holly and the rest of Chuck’s family. Take solace in the knowledge that Chuck is now free of all of the suffering and pain of the past few years.

C. Webb

Summer, Brandy and Ms. Wilhelm, my thoughts and prayers are with each of you as you cope during this most difficult time. The strength and care that you provided Mr. Wilhelm over the last months, weeks and days has been amazing and I know that he was proud of each of you.

I will most remember Mr. Wilhelm for his passion and dedication to anything that he set his mind to. His hard exterior and soft interior, his ultimate love for his family, fishing and dogs.

As a friend of the family I was honored to know that Mr. Wilhelm always had my back!

Sam Scroggins says:

We met Chuck at the first Rally @ Texas planning meeting. It quickly became clear that he and his co-founders, Sherry Ruslink and George Schwend, had two objectives: the visiting anglers needed to have both the time of their life and to catch the bass of their lifetime. Chuck then took charge and did his very best for 11 years to make sure that it happened, and it did.

Along the way Chuck made friends with anglers from all across the US, and the Lake Fork Rally led directly to the creation of new Rallies in Alabama, California, Georgia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. These, in turn, spawned mini-rallies all over Texas and perhaps some of the other states. All were loosely organized, but patterned after the Fork Rally that Chuck nurtured throughout the 11 years. Thousands of anglers enjoyed Rally concept and all who knew Chuck were touched by his sense of humor, wisdom, and leadership.

I will never forget the times I fished with Mr. Chuck at Lake Fork, especially when I had a buzzbait from Mr. Wayne and Mr. Chuck and my dad said the fish aren’t hitting top water and I threw it out and caught a bass on my second cast. He will be greatly missed……
