Frances Joan Wisler (81)
The Lord called one of his angels home. Frances Joan Wisler passed away peacefully September 18, three days prior to her 62nd anniversary with her husband, Charles in Dallas, TX. She was born June 15, 1927, and grew up in Hobart, Oklahoma and Oklahoma City with her sister Sylvia LaJean. She met her future husband, Charles, while attending Oklahoma City University. She was an active member of Alpha Omega Sorority (later Delta Zeta). When WWII broke out she heard there was an opening for a File Boy at UPI and applied. Not only did she get the job, but also got the opportunity to write some small bits. She was also employed by the phone company and worked tirelessly on the 1960 US Census. She sold AVON as time permitted. Joan was preceded in death by her son, Gary Wisler and her parents Charles Smith Higgins and Elnora Watkins Higgins. Joan was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She is survived by her 2 children, Karen Collins-Eiland of Dallas and son David Charles Wisler and his wife Melanie Drell Wisler of Plano, TX. She leaves 2 grand-children, Lillian and Alan Wisler, nieces and nephews. Joan was an amazing woman who understood the importance of home and family. She generously gave of herself was always very active in her community and giving of her time to Merriman Park Garden Club, Cub Scouts and the PTA. She was a long time member of Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, and former President of the United Methodist Women. She was active in the Ft. Worth Womens’ Club, and President of the Art Dept. She had a great love of the arts and was an accomplished painter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, 6445 E. Lovers Lane, Dallas, Tx 75214 where Memorial Services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, September 23rd.
