Young, Dr. Robert A. Robert A. Young, D.P.M., respected podiatrist and devoted friend to many, died on February 3, 2010 in Dallas. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 8, 2010 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 6525 Inwood Road. Bob was born April 19, 1948 in Hayward, California. He is survived by his father, Dr. Robert R. Young, and was preceded in death by his mother, Muriel Drake. Other survivors include his brother, John R. Young, and his sister, Gigi Catrina, his brother-in-law, Otto Catrina, their son, Donato, and his life partner of 34 years, Tim Umholtz. Bob graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. Moving to Dallas, he served as Director of Podiatric Residency at Mesquite Physicians Hospital, later opening Addison Foot Center in Dallas and Galloway Foot Center in Mesquite. Bob’s dedication to his practice brought him several distinguished honors including the Texas Podiatric Medical Association Award of Appreciation and the Dallas County Podiatric Medical Assistants Association Service Award. He also received the Paul Harris Fellow Award given by Rotary International. His community service is marked by involvement with Prestonwood Rotary Club, Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, and American Cancer Society. Bob Young holds a special place in his Dallas community. He was the first major donor from Dallas for the Human Rights Campaign and a longtime member of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Federal Club. He generously supported the Dallas Black Tie Dinner along with other charitable organizations. His contributions to family, patients, and friends are profound. Bob will be forever in our hearts, cherished for his loving kindness, his supportive friendship, and his exuberant wit. To all who have loved Bob Young, his joie de vivre lives on.
