“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Zahniser, Mary L.
Born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on July 19, 1925, was an extraordinary mother and woman. She was a Chi Omega at Oklahoma State University and voted the Sugar Bowl queen. "Moth" (short for Mother) received her undergraduate degree from the University of Dallas and a Master's in Special Education from North Texas State University. A former flight attendant at American Airlines, Moth became a phenomenal first and second grade teacher. She taught for over twenty-six years at: Preston Hollow Elementary School, Stephen C. Foster Elementary School, and KB Polk Elementary School. As a passionate educator she introduced students to the lifetime skills of reading and writing. Moth, a very loving and giving individual, volunteered her time, talent and treasures to St. Luke's Church, the Plaid Door, North Dallas Shared Ministries and also served as a board member at St. Simon's Child Care. She was actively involved in the Lady Day Book Review Club, the Shepherds' Center of North Dallas, the Friday Forum, and the Dallas Symphony League. Moth was many wonderful things to all the people who knew her. One of the things she was most proud of was her three children and their families. She will be sorely missed by all who shared her life. Services will be held Saturday, December 20 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church Chapel, 5923 Royal Lane, Dallas, TX at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Luke's Episcopal Church (www.stlukesdallas.org) and the Heifer Project International (www.heifer.org).
